Move In Day

Yesterday the moving van’s loaded up furniture, files, fixtures and more from the parsonage and moved them to the new Church.  Kudos to Cindy, Susan and Tom for directing traffic during a long day.

The handbell choir completed their first practice in the new Church in anticipation of the Decmeber 8th Opening Celebration.  Joey and the band spent a long evening working with the Zamar team and our volunteers to get through the first band practice.

Bike Racks, Atrium and Community Service Room

As Pastor Shinya said at last Sunday’s service, we hope our new building will be used 77/24/365.  The Church has been designed with easy access for our congregation as well as community groups.

Alarm System - CSRThe community service room will be accessible from North Fifth street and will feature one-time, disposable numeric codes for easy entry without loaning out keys for each use.  Groups may have access to the community service room only, or Atrium and restrooms as well.

There is a sink and storage cabinet in the community service room and cabinets in the Atrium which can be used for coffee and snacks before and after services.  No foods or beverages will be allowed in the Sanctuary other than water.Community Service Room

Projects Finished Friday

Work continues on internal finishing, many of which are referred to as “tennant furnished”.  These are projects completed by contractors hired by SJ First and installed after general construction is completed or nearly completed. Pictures of these projects below were taken on Friday.

Audio visual systems in the Sanctuary supplied by Zamar and other locations of the building as well as networking system hardware installed by Ageeva are two examples.Sanctuary Second SpeakerNetworking in Data Room

Our Construction Team

Our construction team has been meeting weekly since the beginning of the project.  We are fortunate to have such a dedicated team, and one that has kept the project moving despite hurdles along the way.San Jose First Church Construction Team
